6th Annual Global Day of Action for Climate Justice
On Monday, we were delighted to participate in the Global Day of Action for Climate Justice for the first time. Started at York University by Professor Stephen Levett, the day began as a chance for law clinics to take action together. We were excited to work alongside Professor Levett to bring the day to a wider audience. As part of our commitment to taking concrete action together this week, we’ve compiled a number of materials we hope will be useful to you and your colleagues:
First, you can find both of the events we hosted this week on our brand-new Recordings page, which also hosts prior events we’ve hosted that had nowhere to live. This week, we learned about the impacts of liquefied natural gas infrastructure from three panelists who are fighting back against the LNG buildout in their communities, and we also heard from Dr. Delta Merner at Union of Concerned Scientists about the basics of the science used to support climate litigation.
Next, check out our new job search resources page! We’ve created a list of questions you can ask in interviews that you’ll find there. For students in the UK, we have also provided information about the Solicitors Qualifying Exam, and a document published this week by Lawyers Are Responsible containing advice on conscientious objection in the workplace.
We are also working on a “Green List” of law firms that offer clean energy work but do not serve fossil fuel interests. So far, our students have identified Clean Energy Counsel, Amis Patel & Brewer, and Shute, Mihaly & Weinberger, and they are continuing their research. If you know of firms that fit the bill, please encourage them to nominate themselves by completing the form at the bottom of our Take Action page.
The 7th annual Day of Action will be on Monday, November 17, 2025, and we hope to make it the biggest one yet. In order to do that, we are building student contacts at universities around the world. We have created an LSCA Campus Representative position that is designed to take up very little time, and would appreciate help sharing the interest form with law students in your network.
We are also hopeful that we will be able to host regional convenings in August that will help us develop our strategy moving forward. If you would be interested in hosting an event in your city, please complete this form.
